The Museo Sang Bata sa Negros (MSBN) is a hands-on, interactive museum for children focused on the marine environment. It is located on the shoreline directly facing the 32,000-hectare Sagay marine protected area, locally called SMR (Sagay Marine Reserve). Close to 98% of the people living in and around this area are dependent on the marine resources for their food and livelihood.
Sagay city is proud to be the home of MSBN, the second hands-on and interactive children's museum in the country and its first marine museum. The museum has an interesting whale-shaped edifice and is located at the port area of Brgy. Old Sagay, 5.5 km. from the city proper. MSBN has four permanent exhibit areas: The Marine Story, ABCs of Smoking, Las Islas Filipina and the Hampanganan toy room which features the folk toy collection of Ms. Mara Montelibano, representing more than 50 countries. Hampanganan also showcases the promotional toys of McDonald's donated by Mr. Eusebio "Butch" Lopez and the Beanie Babies Collection of Monica and Alex Kazlausky. Through these exhibits, MSBN seeks to awaken and stimulate the creative and intellectual potential of Negrense children.
